- Open to all composers regardless of age
- Composers must reside in the United States (international students living in the USA may apply)
- A composer may submit only one entry per competition year
- Completed applications must be submitted before 30 April 2012
- A $50 application fee is required
- Late submissions will not be accepted
- Scores must be submitted in 8.5 x 11 size
- Scores must be submitted in a Finale or Sibelius style notation, as PDFs
- Scores must be anonymous, please do not put your name on any page
- All audio files submitted must be in “midi”
- The submission must be a new work that has not been published, performed or recorded
- Compositions must be between 6-15 minutes in length
- Chamber works submitted must include the bassoon.
- Chamber works are to have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 players. Suggestions for instrumentation include:
- Flute, Bassoon, Piano
- Oboe, Bassoon, Piano
- Clarinet, Bassoon, Piano
- Bassoon, Marimba, Piano
- Voice, Bassoon, Piano
- Strings, Bassoon, Piano
- All decisions are final. BCMCC reserves the right not to award winners
